Testing placement of images where I placed letters.
- Think this one is a little busy, could try and simplify the page.

Keeping things more simple with isolated, not sure if it works.
- Should test with printing.
Need to print out and experiment with tip ins and different pages.
Printed out the book and experimented with adding in tip ins, the pages feel a little underwhelming and need breaks with more full pages, could have a little more pace to it.
- The tip ins are a nice edition, they make a nice change to the pages and could be interesting to play with this idea like Peggy mentioned yesterday.
- Want to try and playing with the imagery more.
Playing in illustrator to experiment more with tip ins on illustrator:
Thinking about the placement of the tip ins, these will be the left and right pages of the publication, larger tip ins make for a larger impact.
Thinking about what peggy said, using the tips in as the idea of temporary placement and then being solidified:
- Really like these pages, having larger close ups creates a good visual difference within the pages.
- Using the same image as on that side of paper but large to showcase the difference, temporary and permanent.
Thinking more of paper arrangement, making the tip ins permanent.
Could this be something to go with, or could replace with more experimental imagery.
- Really liking the full bleed, it feels more immersive and goes back to that idea of having the work coming off the page making it more tangible and less encased.
- Wanting the book to feel more like an exhibition and an experience rather than just an object (thinking about Dayanita's talk for PMVABF).
Playing with the spaced out ideas more:
The idea behind this is strong but the visual execution isn't working, could do with fewer imager, or use for placement on the page.
Again I think it's a good concept but to me it stands out a bit on the page, does suggest this idea of temporary thought but I think there are different ways I could approach this that are more tangible to the form of the book and this would work better as this moving past the thought physically.
Book with new experiments:
(Mock up goes a little bit strange with the page size differences for the tip ins)
Page spreads:
Feel this is much more balances as a visual, using some full bleed within the publication of the experiments to showcase a mental block or struggle, then using tip ins full bleed but not full scale suggests a temporary thought popping into mind.
- I think this works particularly well with the last two spreads and the tip in. Really like how the tip in shows the sudoku book but on the page there is not book, it's movement only. The tip in acts as a momentary blip in thought.
When looking through the physical book a couple changes could be made to the spreads:
The change in position makes it difficult to notice the difference between the images (with and without sudoku book).
- Think having them in the same place will make this more obvious (mentioned this in previous blog).
^Now will look like this
Reflections:
- Feel like the publication is very close to being completed, there are many changes I could do but I feel the final idea is there but it needs tweaking to be more effective.
- If possible keep printing out books and looking at them like this, makes the process much easier.
- Experiment with blue images as tipins, see what this does (can do into existing book) - I want to see if there's more I could do with the hand position images, maybe removing content, scribbling, have a think and play a little more.
- Really liked peggy's idea of using the tracking but in a different way (she suggested with imagery), since this didn't work could use the notation marks idea to see how these fit with the page.
To do:
- Print blue tip ins
- Print tip ins with small image of sudoku then large image without:
- Think about notation marks but with peggy's suggestion in mind of combining this with tracking (divide feature on photoshop):
