(B8) Social Media: Peer Crit Feedback, Jenny Crit Feedback, Developments

PEER CRIT:

• Felt the project made sense and that it was really interesting.
• Like the visually similar image search, reminded Hannah of youtube rabbit holes getting from one topic to another. 
• Was a good way of approaching the topic, raises awareness without freaking people out.
• Also showcases a little bit of humour, comments of the topic in a lighter way. 

It was great to talk to peers about the project and see how they reacted. A large portion of our crit time was spent by talking about the internet, social media and other forms of digital space. 

- I think finding successful tests for these concepts will be the best way to move forward with the project.
- Could do with thinking and refining more.

• How to select that starting image?
• Bias in tech - youtube video series.
  - Look into, relates to monitoring
• "clean" view of social media, but this isn't true.
  - Things being curated by google
• Could ask peers to google search the same thing and see what comes up. 
• Explore these experiments multiple times to see what happens?
  - Looks for trends
  - See what's emerging
  - Start with end image on visually similar experiment
• Complex concepts need simple execution.
  - That's the challenge
  - Make the content feel accessible
• Google Alerts: lets you monitor specific key words and sends a notification when they are used online
  Google news: a site that aggregates headlines from news sources across the globe
  Google Trends: a tool shows how often specific keywords, subjects and phrases have been queried over a specific period of time

Ways to present:

- Something about this makes it look more like a vitals tracker. 
- Feels like a school project, some odd diagram you'd make for a research project.

- Like the ambiguity between these two pages, but they are directly related. 

- The audience is left wondering why? 
- Could maybe include statistics? The figures, adding more numbers in? 

- Elongating the graphs to make them cover more of the page, feel this might add more of a balance, but could do with re-drawing the graphs on illustrator to prevent any further warping. 

- Two different ideas (left and right)

- Left feels a little odd, you don't get to see the details of the images and the text is then hard to read.
- Right, placing next to each other again makes it look as though they are vitals for the celebrities.
