602: Task 4 - Presentation & Feedback

PRESENTATION:

Note: Talk through each point as they appear on screen

Notes:
1. Questioning, pulling apart, interrogating briefs. Allows for new solutions.
2. Works with point 1. Staying open minded, learn from those with different experiences, helps you grow.
3. Taking the plunge with an idea. Trusting yourself
4. We learn from them. Worried in 1st year but realised they're important. Happy accidents are great.
5. Maybe the most important. When asking questions think about concept. Creates new and innovative solutions & avoid "trends".

Going to show some examples of these.

Notes: Odd topic, questioned appropriate form.

Notes: Collaboration, first collab, learning from each other, strengths and weaknesses.

Notes: Book in a day, time restrictions, quick turn around, had fun!

Notes: Learnt from mistakes to inform the rest of the week.

Notes: Concept, nail it. Form, nail it to support the concept. Aesthetics to further the concept.

Notes: That's me, thank you!

FEEDBACK:

  • Stuff about myself: Little conversation points where people can ask questions, leads on to little conversations outside the work which is good to have.
  • Didn't need the manifesto on a separate page, could have on the examples and talk through them at the same time, to keep it simple.
  • Then swap the manifesto point and title around to have it make a little more sense.
  • Positively delivered, clean, succinct, some personal stuff, well presented.
  • Work had enough breathing space, can see it clearly. Appears nice and calm.
    - Nick mentions about full bleed images, think this could be interesting to think about, would it work with this presentation? Maybe not since it has a calm tone to it but could be good for other presentations, maybe portfolio?
  • Being aware that the presentation can be great but your delivery isn't great the presentation is going to lose it's dazzle.
  • The design of the presentation was spare but it works because the work is all rather different, so why have a dominating design ethic to the way the presentation is put together. This foregrounds any details that are different (wiggly line and smiley face) communicates really well, small things can same a lot.
  • Liked the tone in the small details.
    - Really glad Nick picked up on these and they had the effect I had intended.
  • The confidence in delivery presents integrity, not needing to be worried about not having a specific style.
    - This point I found to be helpful to hear, I've been worried about not having a clear style as a designer before but I'm becoming more confident in the fact that I'm process based and this informs my designs.
Overall I'm really pleased with how my presentation went, I feel I'm getting much better with communicating who I am as a creative/designer more successfully which I'm really happy with.

I want to keep pushing and trying to translate this to different formats like my portfolio, instagram account and website.
