(B2) Sticker Trail: Organisation and Stickers

When working on the portraits having the stickers organised is key to the success of the project.
After working for Wooga on the June's Journey book of the summer I knew that Google Sheets was a great way to document progress of a project for multiple parties.

Using a numbering system for all stickers as names may be duplicated.
Have a shared sheets file with Sarah to add information on topics relating to the nomination:

  1. Name
  2. Nominator
  3. Reason
    Then for me I added:
  4. Image received?
  5. Image sent
(4 and 5 are colour coded to let me know the stage of the images)

This google sheet was charged between me and Sarah so Sarah could add content that is relevant to the stickers (which were numbered for extra clarity, not using just names) and I would be able to document my progress with the project keeping both parties on the same page.

The nomination images get sent in this order:

Nominator > Sarah > Me > Kat/Soph > Me

Need to make sure files are named accordingly to the spreadsheet and they stay that way in order to not get lost.
When I got sent the files from Sarah I renamed them with number and name (e.g 1-Mr Singh). Then I sent to Kat or Soph and asked them to save their files with the same name.

Files from illustrators of portraits were all different sizes.
- To reduce chance of pixelation the sticker made on illustrator had the vector elements change size to suit the size of the illustration:

This file is 'Sticker Raw Size'

These are then exported as JPEGS and reuploaded to a file named 'Stickers Same Size' where they're scaled to 120mm wide in diameter:

For the file that is going to be sent to print there needs to be a 0.25pt cut line, having this on a separate layer.

There were a few difficulties when it came to the illustrations.
- Files were different sizes.
- They weren't pngs (which is my fault as I didn't specify)
- And there were white backgrounds on the images.
This meant I had to edit the files myself in order for them to fit.
Learnt a lot that next time I work when there are files coming from different designers I need to specify how these should be sent over to same time.

During the sticker development they placement changed to accomodate the portraits more.

When from this, with spiky shape poking out the bottom of the portrait:

To this, where the shape frames the portrait better (the sticker will be circular, the square is prep for printing):

These work much better as the visual balance is more even.
- When viewed as a whole they look more consistent also.

To Do:
  • Prep final file to send to printers
  • Design 7 stickers for CA Spaces staff
  • Finish map when Sarah sends over locations
