CoP Practical Development Post Crit

PRACTICAL DEVELOPMENTS:

Thinking of feedback about imagery to use in publication, blurting initial visual ideas:

  • How would something like this work on the page?
  • Where would it sit within the hierarchy?
  • How would it impact the reading experience?

There needs to be more consideration of page layout if using icons.
Needing to think about:
- Is the purpose of the icon to inform the reader that they need to wear high-vis
- The whole section isn't about high vis gear, maybe the icon needs to be more focused.
- If the icon exists within the grid, how so? Need to make sure it isn't being plonked into the layout.

Does it need to be an icon? Could it be an alteration to the text like Simon and Jas suggested in crit?

Highlighting text seems a little obvious, it also isn't that effective. Looks cheap and is difficult to read text when its yellow or when background is yellow and text is white.
Would use a fluorescent spot colour for printing this, not a yellow like this.

^ Could include a spot to bring attention to the point, demonstrating that action is needed here.
- Would this been effective?
- Would it distract the audience when on the page? Is this an issue as the publication is to be navigated around in sections, not read linear.

REFLECTION POST ESSAY (writing on 30th Nov)
- Something like the above may be distracting, creating a disconnect in attention and leading to less comprehension and rete
ntion (Crook, 2020) (Muller-Brockmann, 2019).
- On the other side, may make a point like this more likely to be remembered as the colour bring attention to that specific point (Dzulkifli and Mustafar, 2013)
