What do I want to show in my personal branding?
- Professional but friendly
- Concepts before aesthetics, brand shouldn't overpower the work
- Attention to detail
- Fun & playful
- Approachable
Research:
Rahel Zoller:
- Clean simple design.
- Work speaks for itself large photos let them be the focus.
- The aesthetics match that of the publication and don't overpower the page.
- The about it clear and direct but doesn't feel cold, talks about Rahel in 3rd person which encourages appears professional.
Lili Phillips:
- The website and Instagram feel connected, they both have a sense of play and you get a feel for who Lili is as a person as well as a designer.
- The work is the focal point and you can see the information alongside the work, this makes it much easier to understand the context instantly.
- Clean and simple.
- Personable, friendly tone to text.
- The branding on Lili's instagram is very much based around her as a person as well as her work.
Tender Books:
- Another clean simply designed website.
- The addition of having the 't' move with the page is really lovely, it makes to notice it more and becomes something you might recognise.
- Sells books so the home page is full of imagery of different books.
- On the hole page there's little hierarchy between the elements at the top, this makes a subtle impression on the audience but I feel it looks as though it's lacking structure.
- The branding on their website is matched by that on their instagram, consistency across platforms.
Reflections:
- Although all these branding stategies are pretty clean and simple they all communicate differently:
- Some contain elements of the personality more than others.
- There are quirks on the websites that provide a sense of tone to the audience. - Was initially worried about going for a simple brand approach as I didn't want it to blend in but I've realised you don't need to be shouting the loudest to get heard.
- Shall continue with the direction I've been going in with my branding and apply it to various outcomes.
- Want to refine the use of text and hand drawn icons within my designs.
- Think about the colours also to develop something that's more me.
