(B6) A Book A Day: Going Over the Brief

Brief:

Designing a zine/publication each day for a week. The topic of the book will be based on what’s trending on twitter that day, quick thinking will be imperative to the success of the project.

Background/Considerations:

  • Inspired by Joe Gilmore's talk in L5, in particular the 7.45 books in a year challenge. Wanting to conduct a similar investigation, and push limits using time as a restriction.
  • The use of trending topics as inspiration for the book will limit my ability to pre-plan the publications but hoping throughout the week choices become easier to make as I design more books.
  •  The project will allow myself to comment on pop-culture as well as display how faced paced interests have become in modern society. Interesting juxtaposition of a book (typically long production process) with the content of pop-culture (ever changing multiple times a week, even a day).
  • The audience will be mainly myself, using the project as a way to push my creative skills in publication design and break barriers I have set up with the aim of improving my design practice. But the final books are for young creatives interested in pop-culture, as I’m wanting to convey the speed at which topics change and become outdated.

Deliverables:

Minimum 5 publications each surrounding a trending topic.
