Instagram:
Incorporating ambiguous imagery with digital style text to the instagram.
Wanting to translate the same idea of the tessellated posters to the instagram and incorporate the features like swiping and tapping on stories to up the level of engagement the audience has with the branding.
One way of doing this is with album posts on instagram allowing for a panoramic of images:
These viewed as individual tiles:
These have a strong visual link to the physical posters.
Still wanting to have the physical posters printed and photographed and then these places on instagram.
- Feel this was a strong element of the branding pitched and want to carry this forward to current development.
Could be interesting to think of the different ways of placing tessellated posters into the real world (see below).
Having posters pasted on the corner of a wall
The typing text was a positive of branding pre-pitch so feel this should stay on the digital elements.
Flyer:
Experimenting with flyer, can have a front and a back.

Back

Front

Front and Back
Having the images show the image in full when front and back are placed next to each other, but this isn't able to happen so keeps the ambiguity of the image.
Second idea for flyer: Having full image on one side, and just text on the other.

Back

Front
Like the idea but could be too minimal from the from the front?
- The text is a consistent across all elements of the branding and promotional materials so could be recognised.
- Feel as though people recognise image more than text. The text is also rather small so wouldn't catch eye as easily.
Perhaps try reversing the colours to the bright blue.
Really vibrant and eye catching, doesn't overtake because it's just a colour, perhaps could be too much if applied to everything.
- See how it looks on posters and instagram.
- Might be better to use this technique but very selectively.
- Could have catalogue quote pages with this on.

Really like the larger text with more information, feels as though it has more to communicate than previous text on posters.
- Add text like this to posters.

Posters: with new larger text

Adding blue to elements:

Posters w/ blue
![]() |
Instagram square w/blue

Quote page in catalogue w/blue
The blue works for specific things like flyers, squares on instagram and quote pages in the catalogue. However, doesn't work as well on posters.
Feel the blue can be used for sections needing to grab the attention of the audience, like flyers or social media posts.
- The catalogue would benefit from these blue pages to break up the potential repetitiveness of the design.
- Posters are fine without the large sections of blue as they are eye catching enough due to the large amount of space and interesting application.
Looking at developments so far now with the new blue elements feels like all should have a section of blue, whether that be for the text or background, so on instagram posts all text should be blue and the same on the posters:
To Do Next:
- Labels
- Email invites
- Finalise all designs so far
- Make new pitch presentation
- Print and photograph posters
- Make mock up of catalogue

Would want to produce the posters physically and document them as and develop into a reel. Photos of the physical posters would be incorporated into a reel montage and posted on instagram. Wanting to remind people the event is taking place in the real world not digitally (especially now as most events are online). But not able to do this due to the current circumstances (3rd lockdown).
What's working well?
- Adding in larger sections of blue creates a more vibrant tone for the branding.
- The translation of branding between elements is looking good, things are consistent but not too same-y.

What could be worked on more?
- Thinking about the colour. Is it enough? Does it look odd just being blue backgrounds? How could more blue be introduced?
- Need to print out posters when I get the chance to, see what they look like.
